Quantus Finance – Break into Finance

I’m a product engineer at Runway, building FP&A SaaS software for high-growth companies. I discovered Quantus on Hacker News and, despite having little prior experience with financial modeling, I wanted to learn more. Quantus is incredibly easy to navigate, with practical exercises that are very digestible. The lessons take you from the basics all the way to building a full balance sheet through guided practices.

As a quantitative trader, I occasionally need to conduct fundamental company analysis. While I understand the basics of financial statement analysis, it’s not my strongest area. Quantus equips me with the right knowledge and practical cases exactly when I need them, helping me make investment decisions more efficiently. What I appreciate most are the step-by-step hints in each session. They go beyond just formulas in the cells—the floating explanations that show how each formula is derived make it much easier to understand and remember the concepts. This is especially true in the Financial Modeling module, which offers the most comprehensive cases. The embedded tips provide a clear, structured view of each step and greatly enhance my overall understanding.

LeetCode for financial modelling exists and it’s better than you think. Quantus Finance is a platform for learning and practicing financial modelling. Created by an engineering and finance major, I’m unsure about the creator’s affiliation with Y Combinator but he’s active on YC hacker news. Its a decent solution even for non-finance students as you are taught everything about financial statements and valuation from scratch. It has bunch of stuff including DCF, LBO, M&A and basic 3 statement modelling. Overall experience and guided modelling makes it easy to digest concepts, not to mention the platform itself hosts spreadsheets similar to MS excel. 10/10 absolute banger : ).
